»I used to work as a poster painter for the consumer co-operative in the GDR. I painted Lenin, Marx, Engels, Stalin and the slogans for the five-year plan on the walls of buildings at least a hundred times. I was awarded an activist medal for that work. But anyway, in ’55 I decided to come over here.«
