»My ancestors were farmers, pirates and fishermen from Dithmarschen. Every now and then they used to attack the beer ships on their way out from Hamburg – beer was the main export item at the time of the Hanseatic League – and that way they got the beer for free. I don’t do that. I make the beer lawfully and sell it. That’s where I’m different from my ancestors. But they were certainly thirsty – and so am I!«
