»I always say, treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. So if someone comes and abuses me and shouts and screams, I speak especially softly and very calmly and then they soon stop of their own accord.«

Excerpt: I always have some dog food in my pocket. A colleague of mine who’s mad about dogs gave me some of hers one day and said: Here, you have to feed the dogs, then you won’t have any trouble with them. And I’ve been doing just that ever since. The dogs come tearing along from miles away as soon as they see me now. Even really big ones. They often knock the trolley over, but at least they don’t bite me. But I was never bitten before that either. I think it all depends on how you react to the dogs. They seem to sense it if people don’t like them or are afraid of them. I dunno.

I get on well with the people here and the St. Pauli folk are nice anyway. And I know what I’m talking about – I’ve been delivering the post here since 1969. I’m on first-name terms with most of them – It’s Christel, this, Christel, that!

I always say, treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. So if someone comes and abuses me and shouts and screams, I speak especially softly and very calmly and then they soon stop of their own accord. ...
